2026 TGC Annual Goldfish Grow Out Event XI

The Goldfish Council is prepping for an awesome event.  This is a fun grow out competition for hobbyist to try their

hand at grooming and digital showing. This year our sponsor Ohio Koi is providing players US grown Japanese

Tamasabas (F1-Kaneko Line). Todd Elliott has allowed Joshua McWilliams and Gary Hater sort a large group of

select Tamasabas for the contest. We thank Todd Elliot for helping us in this critical fund raiser. These are a little

bigger than last years, coming in at 2 -2.6”. Also, different this year a household can procure a three pack or five pack

in one box. Shipping and start will be in the middle of April 2026. Aquarium Co-op will be supplying food prizes and

starter foods.

1.    Purchase your fish directly from The Goldfish Council website using the event

page. Cost is $75 US per 3 in a box including postage or five in a box for $120 including postage.

2.    You can purchase one box per household. The fish are on a first come first serve basis, once they sell out of fish

from this shipment we will no longer accept any more entries. We are limiting this contest to 200 fish sold. 

3.    Registration must be received and fish ordered by April 5 2026 at 11:59 Eastern Standard Time.

4.    This Competition is only open to Residents in the Continental United States, only one entry of 3 or 5 fish per

household.

5.    Your fish will be from Ohio Koi in Sunbury, Ohio. The fish will be between 2’ and 3” total length and shipped

Federal Express 2 day the week of April 13, 2026 (likely 4/13/26). If you need an alternate date there is a $15 charge.

6.    Any questions regarding the registration, photo submissions, awards, Facebook live feeds should all be directed

to Gary Hater, Founder via Facebook Messenger.

7.    Photos of the purchased fish must be emailed to thegoldfishcouncil@gmail.com no later than April

20,2025. Please include 2 side view photos (one of each side of the fish) with a measuring devise.  So, three entries, 6 pictures in all, two per fish.

8.    Then, by October 15th, 2025, you must submit 3 (of each fish) updated grown-out photos of the same 3 fish (or

less), to  thegoldfishcouncilevents@gmail.com . Please include 2 side view photos (one of each side of the fish) with a

measuring devise (can be in or out of water) and 1 side view beauty shot in water (fish should not be held but free swimming in a tank) to be used for Best fish category. 

9. Awards will be announced Via Facebook in the Goldfish Council Chat, mid-October 2024.  Exact date and time for

the results will be announced about 2 weeks prior to the date. The TGC Chairman for Standards and judging Joshua

McWilliams will announce winners and date of announcement.

10. Awards will be Given out for the following:

a. Best Overall Growth - biggest growth (aquarium-co-op food)

b. Best Overall Red Fish - Compared to TGC Standards (aquarium co-op Food)

c. Best overall Red/white fish as compared to TGC standards (aquarium-co-op food)
