Ten years of goldfish. Ten years of education. Ten years of friendship, growth, and a shared passion for the hobby.
In 2026, The Goldfish Council proudly celebrates its 10th Anniversary, marking a decade since TGC was founded in 2016. What began as an idea to bring goldfish enthusiasts together around education, standards, breeding, showing, and the advancement of the hobby has grown into an incredible community of breeders, exhibitors, collectors, judges, and everyday goldfish keepers.
From the beginning, TGC’s mission has extended far beyond simply admiring beautiful fish. Over the past decade, the organization has worked to promote better goldfish husbandry, education, breeding, appreciation, and understanding while creating opportunities for hobbyists to learn from one another.
TGC has helped develop and maintain goldfish standards, train and certify judges, support shows and educational events, encourage breeding programs, and provide a place where knowledge and experience can be shared throughout the hobby.
Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of the past ten years, however, isn’t something that can be measured by the number of shows, awards, articles, or fish entered.
It’s the community we’ve built.
Goldfish have brought together people from different states, countries, backgrounds, and experience levels. Someone purchasing their first fancy goldfish can find themselves having a conversation with a breeder who has spent decades developing a line. Competitors become friends. Breeders exchange ideas and genetics. Judges share knowledge. Volunteers give countless hours to make shows and educational events possible.
That willingness to share knowledge and a common passion for goldfish has been at the heart of TGC since the beginning.
Celebrating 10 Years With a Little Tin
Of course, you can’t celebrate a milestone like this without something special to remember it by.
Traditionally, the 10th anniversary is celebrated with a gift of tin, representing durability, flexibility, and something built to last. We thought that tradition provided the perfect inspiration for The Goldfish Council’s 10th Anniversary shirts.
Our special anniversary design was created around that idea, incorporating a tin-inspired theme into something unmistakably TGC. It’s a fun nod to the traditional 10th anniversary gift while celebrating the fish and organization that have brought so many of us together over the past decade.

Ten years is an incredible milestone, but we’re certainly not finished.
There are still new hobbyists to welcome, new breeders to encourage, new varieties and bloodlines to develop, new research to explore, new judges to train, new shows to support, and plenty more conversations about goldfish waiting to happen.
As we celebrate this anniversary, we also want to recognize the founders, board members, volunteers, judges, breeders, exhibitors, sponsors, patrons, event hosts, and goldfish enthusiasts who have contributed their time, knowledge, resources, and enthusiasm over the years.
The Goldfish Council would not be celebrating ten years without you.
